Coming Events

Movie: COURAGEOUS
Sunday, February 12, 6:30pm, Midway Family Life Center.  Doors open at 6:00pm.

From the creators of FIREPROOF comes COURAGEOUS, Honor Begins at Home (PG-13).

Four men, one calling: To serve and protect. As law enforcement officers, Adam Mitchell, Nathan Hayes, David Thomson, and Shane Fuller are confident and focused. Yet at the end of the day, they face a challenge that none of them are truly prepared to tackle: fatherhood.

While they consistently give their best on the job, good enough seems to be all they can muster as dads. But they're quickly discovering that their standard is missing the mark.

When tragedy hits home, these men are left wrestling with their hopes, their fears, their faith, and their fathering. Can a newfound urgency help these dads draw closer to God ... and to their children?

Filled with action-packed police drama, COURAGEOUS is the fourth film from Sherwood Pictures, the moviemaking ministry of Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia. Viewers will once again find themselves laughing, crying, and cheering as they are challenged and inspired by everyday heroes who long to be the kinds of dads that make a lifelong impact on their children.

Protecting the streets is second nature to these men. Raising their children in a God-honoring way? That's courageous.

(Chairs will be setup in the Family Life Center or you can bring your own chair. An area will be available for personal chairs.)

Theme – “Hope and Help for Those Who Hurt”

All women are warmly invited to our Annual Spiritual Retreat to enjoy good fellowship, be encouraged in your life and be a blessing to others. Invite your relatives, friends, co-workers, neighbors and others! Please note that the date has been switched to March instead of February.

Nancy Guthrie, from Nashville, Tennessee, will be our featured speaker. She and her husband suffered the loss of two children as infants from Zellweger Syndrome. Nancy wrote the book, “Holding On to Hope: A Pathway of Suffering to the Heart of God,” which includes lessons she learned in the midst of loss and has helped to draw people to God. She has written other books that reveal her compassion for hurting people and her passion to apply God’s Word to everyday life.  Her website is www.nancyguthrie.com.

Agenda for the Day
9:30 – 11:30 a.m. – Morning Session:  “What Do We Do When God Says No?” God has invited us to come to Him with our needs and requests but what do we do when we do not get what we ask for earnestly in prayer?

11:30 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. – Lunch in the Family Life Center

12:45 – 2:00 p.m. – Afternoon Session:  “How Do We Help Those Who Hurt?” How do we pray for those facing terminal illness or for those going though divorce or grieving the death of a spouse or child? We will explore these questions as we consider how to apply the grace and truth of the gospel in times of heartache and loss.

Lunch and babysitting will be provided for all those who are pre-registered.
Please register by signing up in the narthex or by calling the church office at 717-273-4832 by Sunday, March 11. A freewill offering will be lifted to cover expenses and to support a charity or mission.
