Saturday, February 26
The team arrived in Haiti safely around noon time.  There was no trouble getting through the airport, and on to the CSI orphanage.  The team worked half of the day.  Work included installing cabinets and shelving, painting, welding, electrical work, and installing metal bars in the windows.  The team was pleasantly surprised to have hot water for showers.   
     
                               
Monday, February 28
Steve called just a little bit ago! They are working hard. Making cabinet doors, Brandon & Brad are doing electrical work. They are welding, cutting steel and the girls are painting.  The Haitians are working on plastering. It is going well. They hope the orphanage is going to be finished by April.

The team is living on the second floor of the old orphanage with Tim & Toby Banks and the children, all girls, are living downstairs on the first floor. They have not been able to see very much damage from the earthquake. It is too difficult to go into those areas so they travel around them and stay away. About the only signs of the quake in their area is the tent cities of people. They went to church on Sunday at Croix des Bouquets and went for a walk and drove up on the mountain to see the view. Everyone is doing well, they feel safe and there have been no problems.

Steve talked about Fon Fon and his school , the commitment he has there and how it is amazing to see his commitment. Also he talked about a construction company in Ohio that has donated a quarter million in matching funds for the orphanage.

Wednesday, March 2
Today the team welded, installed cabinets, painted, and did electrical work.  The plan for tomorrow (Thursday) is to use the block machine that Midway has purchased.  Everyone on the team is doing fine!     
                               
                        
Thursday, March 3
All is well in Haiti. The Midway team used the block maker that Midway donated. They made 280 blocks. They also moved a trailer down the road to another piece of land that CSI has purchased. It is there that the Haitians will set up and manufacture blocks for sale. The Haitians are so excited about the project because it will provide much needed jobs for them.  Cholera is not really a big issue in the area where they are because there are wells for drinking water. In the city the problems with Cholera are a little better now also.  The team is doing well!
